Sealed proposals for Arrow Street Cold Milling Project as noted herein and on the contract drawings and specifications are invited and will be received until
10:00 am on May 11, 2012 at the Iosco County Road Commission. At which time all received proposals will be publicly opened and read aloud.
Work on this project includes cold milling and paving of an approximately 0.9 miles of Arrow Street, from Mission Street to F-41 as detailed on the plans and specifications.
Plans and Specifications will be on file and available on April 23, 2012, at Wilcox Professional Services, LLC, 3205 US-23 South, Alpena, MI 49707. A fee of fifty dollars ($50.00), non refundable, will be charged for each set of plans and contract documents. Persons desiring plans be mailed should contact Wilcox and submit an additional ten dollars ($10.00) handling and postage. Contract documents will be sent via United Parcel Service. When requesting plans and specifications please allow two working days for document printing.
Each bid proposal shall be submitted on the proposal forms provided. A certified check, cashier’s check or an acceptable bid bond for a sum no less than five percent (5%) of the amount of the proposal will be required with each submittal.
The Owner reserves the right to accept any proposal, to reject any proposal and to waive irregularities in proposals.
No bid may be withdrawn for a period of thirty (30) calendar days after the scheduled time for the receipt of the proposals.
No verbal interpretations of the meaning of the drawings, specifications, or other Contract Documents will be made to any bidder. To remove all weeds by hand in the flowerbeds and install three (3) inches of Dark Brown Shredded Hardwood Mulch at the I - 75 Welcome Center located at the north bound 10 mile marker in Monroe, MI 48161. This work shall be completed by May 21st 2012. The work shall be completed in a clean, professional manner because the Welcome Center is open to the public seven (7) days a week and 24 hours per day. The mulch may be stored outside the garage facility located on the property (during the duration of the project). All debris shall be cleaned up and removed on a daily basis. Contractor will be required to maintain a safe walkway for the public during the duration of the project. Contractor is responsible for knowing which plants are perennials. Only weeds should be removed from beds. Contractor must remove all weeds first and then contact Ed Shinevarre (734-240-5153) for an inspection. Inspection will take place prior to any mulch being placed in beds. A mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting will be held on site at the Welcome Center on April 30th 2012 at 11:00 A.M. The bidder shall be required to provide insurance coverage prior to being awarded the bid. Insurance requirements can be found in the 2012 MDOT Standard Specifications for Construction.
